Plan an Event
Interested in hosting an event in the Nation’s Capital? The Government of the District of Columbia provides essential municipal services in support of special events to ensure events occurring on public space in the District are conducted in a manner that protects public health and safety.
In December 2016 – February 2017 the District underwent a comprehensive national search for a permanent chief of the Metropolitan Police Department. The search included a public engagement plan including small group discussions, a community conversation telephone town hall, and survey to ensure residents had the opportunity to share their public safety priorities and concerns. A summary of the search process and findings from the public engagement activities can be reviewed here.
